Navigations features a collection of short writings about faith and spiritual life. Read and reflect on how others have found safe passage.

The Antidote - In western culture we try to fill every waking moment of each day with activity. Productivity is closely associated with personal success and self-worth. This is why we're gluttons for work and busyness.

Bad Enough to Be Saved - Only in Jesus does our badness qualify us as candidates for a makeover. If you're "bad" and don't know it, God has ways of getting your attention and helping you see the real you!

Good Enough to Be Lost - "How good do I have to be to be saved? Show me the list of requirements and I'll give it my best shot."

Wars and Rumors of Wars - I cannot watch the news anymore, and reading the paper or listening to the radio is depressing. There's just too much awfulness. Isn't it about time for Jesus...

Like a Mother Hen - The festival week had begun as a fairly normal time of purposeful chaos. Not the wild party of a Mardi Gras, but a solemn pilgrimage peppered with dancing. Passover was a yearly worship-feast that brought more than a million Jewish worshippers to David's city

Laughter Is Bad for You - The verbal picture was hilarious - and brought knee-slapping laughter from everyone around the barbecue circle. Even Mark was laughing, although the joke was totally on him.

Putting It All Together - If you know God loves you, if you have confessed your sins and received his forgiveness, and if you have trusted God with your future and started doing what he says, then you're ready to receive God's help in making the right decisions.

Jesus Matters - Ultimately, the only thing that matters is Jesus! Seeing and knowing Him, following, obeying, sharing, and praising Him matter more than money, career, health, beauty, family or friends.

Everlasting Kindness - God's victories seldom match our expectations. They usually exceed even our wildest dreams.

Faith Matters - If my salvation depends soley upon my faith, then I don't have a chance. There are times when I am less than faithful. My faith wavers, grows thin, and yes, even fails.

What's Your Price? - It's been said that everyone has a price. The implication is that if the price is right, everyone will eventually compromise their convictions and beliefs.

People Matter - If it weren't for people, we wouldn't be here. We came from people; were raised by them and have learned to identify certain ones as "family."

More Than Rules - People who say one thing and do another aren't good role models. They may have lofty ideals and be able to articulate worthy goals, but if it is only talk that never gets put into practice, forget it!

Bible Word Pictures - Here's a fun way to relate to Scripture. Though far from scholarly, it can make the Bible come alive!

Be Still - It's hard to be still. Life is so full of things to do, places to go and people to meet. Why should we be still? It's like asking a child with ADD to sit quietly through a symphony.

God's Picnic - We closed the door at 6:32 this morning, locked it, and began our daily 2-mile walk. Even though some of our muscles have been stretched in preparation...
